Strike Saver, LLC is a new fishing tackle manufacturer located in Duluth Minnesota. Two Lake Superior fishermen got tired of losing fish on planer boards and wanted to design a new release that would eliminate lag line and create the opportunity for keeping fish hooked. The unique “hook” mechanism we designed eliminates lag line and still allows us to play the fish. We knew it would make a difference and for the past two years we have been working to prove it.

We started out inventing a new planer board release that then led to a new concept for downrigger fishing based on a swiveling diver and resurfacing plate with the lag line “hook” combination. Both release designs are similar but also offer different benefits and advantages…such as with the downrigger release where now you will never have to raise and lower the cannon ball to reconnect your line after a fish or false release.

We’re excited about the new designs as we have tested and retested over the past two years. These releases have been fished in Lake Superior, Isle Royale, Lake Michigan near Algoma Wisconsin and on Lake Nipigon in Ontario Canada. The simple thing we learned is that Strike Saver does what we had set out to accomplish. The rest is up to the fisherperson to find the fish and figure out how to get them to bite. Good Luck!
